The Story of One Millionth Bakery

Starting a bakery has been my lifelong dream, but finding the right name felt as elusive as the perfect recipe. After all, a name should reflect not just what we sell, but also why we’re selling it. And then, one night, an idea hit me as I was studying scientific notation, specifically the concept of “one millionth.”

The name One Millionth Bakery began to take shape from this concept. In science, “one millionth” is represented as 0.000 001, or 1 x 10⁻⁶—a very small number with a meaningful impact in the realm of the infinitely large and small. It’s the reciprocal of a million, something so tiny and yet so integral to the whole. I loved the subtle poetry of it: small things adding up to something remarkable.

The prefix “micro-” inspired me as well; it’s derived from the Greek word for “small.” In the same way, a bakery often starts small, each pastry or loaf of bread its own micro-unit. And yet, each one is essential, contributing to the larger picture of what the bakery will become over time. Every treat baked, every customer served, every smile exchanged—they're all tiny parts of a big story that grows with each new day.

With One Millionth, I wanted to celebrate the humble beauty of smallness, the joy found in tiny details: the precise folding of a croissant, the sprinkle of sugar on a doughnut, the individual berries placed in a tart. It’s these seemingly small details that make the difference, that add up to an experience worth savoring.

The mission of One Millionth Bakery became clear: to craft each pastry, bread, and dessert with meticulous attention and care, because every little bit counts. Just like in science, where even the smallest measurements matter, each bite, ingredient, and gesture of kindness contributes to the whole.

And so, with a name grounded in the idea that big impacts start with tiny details, One Millionth Bakery opened its doors, inviting everyone to appreciate the small, the meaningful, and the delicious.
